Amazing Humpbacks!

Amazingly Humpback whales are really amazing singers. The males croon by themselves because the females can't sing. They also have really long songs which can go up to 30 minutes! What else is really amazing is they dance to the music too. Instead of always singing the same song they change their songs frequently. The songs have at least six parts that six different whales sing. Humpback music is amazing!

Ps:This was a school project :)

Laziness Doesn't Pay

Once upon a time there was a peddler who slowly travelled to the seaside to buy salt. After he bought the salt and was on his way home he ambled across a river. When he was half way across his clumsy ass tripped. Because the load was salt it dissolved and became very light.

The next day the fairly angry peddler went back to the seaside to buy more salty salt. Because the tricky ass remembered the day before he purposely tripped again. When he got up the load was lightened again. The donkey, who was very pleased with himself, laughed as donkeys do. He did this two more times, then the peddler had a plan!

The clever peddlers plan was to buy sponges instead of salt. When the silly donkey tripped on purpose, because the sponges got unbearably heavy with water the donkey had twice the load. Which makes the moral of the story: laziness doesn't pay.

Alexander the Great!

After cleverly conquering Asia Minor Alexander went on to Persia. Stopping at Gordium Alexander visualized a big knot which held a ox cart to a pole. Some say a hero of old tied it there, and legend had it who ever untied the knot would be the next king! Alexander was determined to solve the puzzle. Soon he had the answer. Drawing his sword he cut the knot in two solving the puzzle. Mabye because of this Alexander went on to become Alexander the great!

But wait thiers more!

Wait 2500 Years!

People have been suffering from rotten teeth for thousands of years. They normally got yanked out which meant the person needed a replacement. The first pair was made by Etruscansin in 700 BC. He lived in Italy before the Romans. False teeth could be carved out of bone or ivory. Ivory teeth were very expensive, turned green and they tasted horrible as well. Human teeth were in plentiful supply because of the war. But people that wanted replacements in 700 BC would have to wait 2500 years!

Chloroform the Great!

Chemists discovered how to deaden pain with nitrous oxide. Dr. William Mortan was the first to use ether as a pain killer on a patient. He sealed ether socked sponges in a sealed glass jar which had a tube from a hole in the top and on the end of the tube was a mouth piece. Patients gratefully accepted being unconscious during their procedures. But ether wasn't that good because it smelled disgusting and it irritated the lungs. Soon Chloroform was discovered. James Young Simpson found it was very useful for childbirth. Chloroform was very common when Queen Victoria had her seventh baby Leopold. Chloroform was a great discovery!

Labor Pays

A hard working farmer caught the fatal black plauge, and he wished somehow the family would prosper. He had two sons who were lazy, but he was afraid that they would be careless at tending the land. He called his sons to his bedside and exclaimed “there is a treasure in the field”. When the farmer died the two sons burried him and went out with their tools and dug everywhere in the field. They were frustrated because they couldn't find any treasure. Because of their thorough plowing their crop was extordanarily abundant and they could live comfortably. Then they realized that the treasure was the fruits of their labors.

The Most Well Taught Bushranger

In Australia there were men who were called bushrangers. The most famous bushranger was Ned Kelly. He was born in Victoria and clashed with the police ever since he was 8. In 1878 there was a incident that made him go bush and become a hunted man. The police found Ned and his gang, but 3 of the police were killed. Because of this Ned was made an outlaw. The last fight Ned had with the police was at Glenrowan. Ned created some armour for him and his gang. Finally Ned was captured by the police and put on trial. Ned was hanged in the Melbourne jail in 1880. He will always be remembered for his daring. Ned Kelly was the most well taught bushranger of all time.

Head Over Heels

A man was driving his donkey down the mountainside. The donkey visualized his stall and he decided that the quickest way down was off the nearest cliff. Because the donkey was about to leap, his master caught him and tried to pull him back. The stuborn donkey continued to pull. ”Very well, go your own way you silly donkey and see where you end up,” the master said. The master let go of the foolish donkey which went head over heels down the mountainside.

Kindness Pays

A long time ago a lone shepherd was watching his sheep at the edge of a forest near Rome. Unexpectedly a lion, howling in pain, came up to the shepherd and put his head in the shepherds lap. He did this because he wanted him to get a thorn out. When the shepherd found and pulled out the thorn, the lion, which happily licked the shepherd, bounded off into the forest.

The next year the shepherd was falsely accused of stealing and put in a pit by Nero the Stupid. The shepherd shouted he was innocent but no one listened. The shepherd needed a miracle to save him, because the sentence was death by lions. The lion, which they were going to use, was mistreated and angry! The shepherd was thrown into the arena and when the lion was let in he charged at the shepherd.

Then the lion suddenly stopped. He recognized the shepherd! The lion put his head in the shepherd's lap and purred. Nero, who was surprised and annoyed at the scene before him, let the shepherd depart because if he didn't the shepherd would get the lion to attack him instead. As we witnessed, kindness pays.

Deadliest creature alive!

The sea wasp is the most venomous creature in the jellyfish family and has a higher poisoning ability than a snake. They search near beaches for shrimp. They are nearly transparent so people get stung by the deadly Sea wasp. It is not found in America or Europe but it is the scourge of Australia. They are a blop of neurotoxin which can kill up to 50 people. Some say it is the deadliest creature alive!

Full of Surprises!

Cephalopods are in a group of mollusks that contain octopus, squid, cuttlefish, and the nautilus. Most of the creatures in the mollusk family have diferent numbers of tentacles such as, octopi have 8 tentacles, squid and cuttle fish both have 10 tentacles, and the nautilus has 80-90 tentacles. They live in the oceans all over the world from the tropics to the poles, the inter-tidal area to the abyss. Its head looks like its foot and because of this its foot looks like its head. The name Cephalopod means head foot because their muscular foot is near their head. The foot on a octopus and squid develops into a funnel. They get around by squirting water out of their funnel. With their Jet Propulsion system they can get around very quickly. Something else amazing is their digestive tract which goes right through their brain! These little creatures are full of surprises.
